We have a modified ranking system from a standard military legend. We generally have a philosophy of being able to pilot certain mechs in combat before being qualified to lead others into battle. This involves an overall understanding of tactics and abilities as well as weapon systems and battlefield positioning. Most of our ranks only really matter when it comes to organized drops when command is very prevalent and orders need to be understood and followed to the letter. That said, while we do want people to move up gradually through the ranks, some players will show aptitude for a chasis which is heavier than we normally suggest starting out at. When this arises we will allow the individual player to try out for a rank more suited to there skills. Generally once you have shown your eligibility for a position, your combat record will be reviewed and a ranking member will decide if a promotion is appropriate. For any rank of captain or higher the wolf council will convene to decide if a promotion is appropriate.
